Rubber Mask Variations

Hi,

I have some masks, but have not really studied them.

I read there are different models of the Rubber Mask, can anyone give me some info on these and maybe show the differences?

Chris,

For the bog standard mask we usually refer to as the Gummimask I believe there were two variations.

The easiest way to tell is the head harness.

The Gasmaske 15 (Linienmaske) was the first and had cloth strap head harness. I believe the strap were elastic--mine has lost all its elasticity.

The second, later mask called the Rahmenmaske 16 had the same type of head harness as the Ledermask with the spring loaded straps.

You can also tell the difference by the size of the bottom plate that the filter canister screws into. The one on the earlier mask is noticeably larger in diameter.
