daveh Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Got any idea what W14 with crown above may mean? The Bayonet ricasso is marked V C Schilling SUHL. The W14 is on the spine of the blade and has a crowned gothic D below it
Chip Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 It's the Prussian mark (W=Wilhelm II) with the date of manufacture. Chip

Chris Boonzaier Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Hi, thats a SG98 n.A. (Seitengewehr 98 new style) (Old style had the wooden grip done in one piece) Best Chris
daveh Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Ok, Thanks a lot. Got the wrong model. So this is Wilhelm II and made in 1914? Any further info on the other markings at all?
Chris Boonzaier Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Hi, all the rest are just control marks and the maker. Nice piece... can take your eye out with that if you are not careful!!
daveh Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Thanks once again matey. I'll keep my eye out for that one alright
piekenier Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Those control marks would be made by the issueing armoury .
Trajan Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 And 1914 dated examples are not that common - not exactly rare, but certainly not common...
