I acquired this photo card last night off Ebay. Can someone enlighten me as to what regiment this fellow is in?

That's what I was thinking. Maybe I just wanted to have someone else to confirm what I was thinking. Maybe when I get the card there will be some writing on the back. Didn't show the back on eBay.

But...wouldn't there have been a Bavarian Crown on the boards also? There are many 2nd Uhlan regiments.

You have answered your own question: 2. Chevaulegers-Regiment Taxis. The Ulanen wore a pear shaped shoulder strap and both leading edges of the tunic front were piped in red.

Thanks Glenn. I came across those pear shape boards in my research and dismissed them, then I came across a website of a re-enacting unit for the 2nd CH, which now I'll go back and re-read all the History of the regiment they posted. Another research triumph.............
