Jock Auld Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Guys, This was with a mixed bag today. Very pointy, would definatley smart a bit. Soaking it in WD40 to see if I can free up the release catch as it may fit the rifle I have? Sadly no scabard! Jock:)
Tony Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Did you manage to free it up? Was it a flea market buy in Germany? I like the Lebel, my wife found a Lebel rifle in France on a field near Combles when waiting for me while I was going round a market. It looked like it had just been ploughed up but I straightened the barrel and still have it. Tony
Jock Auld Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 Tony, Sorry for delay, no it is still solid, I might try to tease it with a hammer and some brass drifts in order not to damage it. Its not a Lebel its another one(St Elienne Mle 1907_15) but I am swapping it this month with a member here as it is his sort of thing, I need to drive to South Germany though! To my eternal shame my wife found my best piece at a flohmarkt while I was mincing around looking at post cards, they do have an eye for stuff if you train them well! It was a German house clearance item not flee market. Cheers Jock:)

Chris Boonzaier Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Hi, "Lebel Bayonet" is the standard name for these, nicknamed the "Rosalie" by the French soldiers. They were initially designed for the Lebel, but the Berthier 07/15 took them as well. Best Chris
