    Hello Chris.

Looking at the stockings and mountain boots worn by the two fellows on the left they certainly belong to mountain troops. The pipes in use seem typically Bavarian. The collar shields do not ring a bell and to me are non regulation.

The pins are for the 11.b.Inf.Div., so there are several possibilities for the specific unit. The division was formed in the Karpathen in 1915 (thus the mountain boots) and was in Serbia later that year. The division contained the following units,

    3.b.IR, 22.b.IR, 13.b.RIR, 4/b.Chev.Rgt.7, 21.b.FAR, b.19 & b.21 Pio.Kp.

Hi Chris! Of course! Here is the badge:

The badge was created by the Div.Kdr. Kneußl himself in january 1916. But in august 1916 the permission to wear were forbidden by the bavarian ministry of war.

Maybe the picture was taken between january and april 1917, when the division was under command of Armee-Abtl. B in the "Upper-Alsace" OR in 1916 in Rumania

The b.11.Inf.Div. wore the mountain-trousers, if it was "necessary".
