jonsey2001 Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Greetings, I am asking out of curiosity if others find these pins interesting? I have quite a few and I wonder if I am alone in hoarding them. -George
IrishGunner Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 George, You should post images of several. I'm sure someone would be interested. I've been meaning to pick up a couple WWI British Royal Artillery sweetheart pins. I haven't seen anything artillery related from the US.
jonsey2001 Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 This is the bulk of them I do have a couple WW1 vintage. I like them and I don't think very many collectors look for these. I like the older USMC ones the most. A few are made by Balfore and one in Providence R.I. George
IrishGunner Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Nice pieces. I'm surprised the USMC pin in photo 3 has blue stones instead of red.
Chris Boonzaier Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Can you post a clearer shot of the red devil badge? So... were there bragging rights amongst girls back then? " I have a "I'm shaggin a captain" badge, julie only has a 1st LT Bar!"
jonsey2001 Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Chris that is a PEP Kelloggs pin 94th bombardment.
jonsey2001 Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Gunner, that on is fairly new compared to the rest. Anyone else have any?
--dj--Joe Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Nice to see them and thank you for showing them. Brought back good memories. I have a few (very view) tucked away. Nothing much different than what you show. One is more trench art / sweetheart - a 45 round with an eagle and shield with a small ring to suspend it. Mass produced I'm sure as I have seen others. At one time I had a number of them but another collector wanted them more. I think there is at least one collectors reference on them. Many interesting examples were made. --dj--Joe
--dj--Joe Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I saw one artillery related just now while searching. Crossed cannons with a U.S. hanging from a son in service devise. --dj--Joe
jonsey2001 Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 Today I walked an antique shop for a good 90 minutes. And I did not see one sweetheart. That is not normal.
speagle Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Found this at a local antique store. My wife likes sterling silver things (which is what this is). Anyway, I've found a new thing to look for now :-)
