Lion101 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Hello, I got this medal from an auction. This medal belonged to a Soviet Officer. Normally I have no issue on Syrian medals but this one have me stomp. Does anyone know this award by chance and could their have been a ribbon with it?
Paul R Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Damn Lion. That medal is beyond awezsome. Most likely one of a kind. I look forward to seeing the information you get about this one.
Lion101 Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 I don't know about it being one of a kind but it could just given to a specific unit? I really need to brush up on my arabic.
Coruscant Posted October 19, 2014 Posted October 19, 2014 In the reverse, the logo of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party – Syria Region. Maybe a medal of Ba'ath Brigades?
oamotme Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Dear Lion, The obverse is out of focus but the reverse reads "The Syrian Arab Army, Unity, Freedom & Socialism, With the compliments of the Defence Secretary" - not sure about this last phrase. From my experience I would suggest this is a souvenir medallet rather than an award. Kind regards, Owain
Lion101 Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 Hello Owain, Thanks again for all your help. Sorry I didn't thank you sooner, I was overseas for a bit.
