dond
Please take a look at the ribbons on these two awards. I don't think they are correct.ThanksDon
dond
the second one.
Stogieman
Both look fine and original. The Strelitz cross can be found on both of the ribbons shown, as an aside and is correct, depending on the home state of the recipient.
dond
Thanks Rick. What is the top ribbon for, fighter or non-fighter? What state would the wearer of the second award be from?So many questions, so little time. Thanks again.Don
Stogieman
Let me clarify for a moment... now that I've had some coffee! Both ribbons look fine, but the first Cross is the Lippe Cross for Merit in War and doesn't belong on the Mecklenburg-Schwerin Ribbon. Both crosses were awarded in Combattant & Non-combattant classes, with the primary colors of the ribbon being the discerning factor in the absence of a document. Wild Card
Gentlemen,I am not comfortable with the first cross. It looks to me like the reverse os a Lippe Detmold 1914 - 1918 KVK; but the ribbon is more like a Mecklenburg Schwerin KVK ribbon. Nothing wrong with the cross itself - just that the ribbon is a mismatch. No?Best wishes,Wild CardOops, while I was writing this, Stogie clarified it. Guest Rick Research
The second ribbon is not correct either-- that PURPLE middle is found on the Mecklenburg long service awards, while the non-combatant ribbon, similar proportions, was RED there.
