Hoss Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Hello Gents Notwithstanding testimonials from a winged Pegasus expert descending from the heavens on waf the last failed ebay attempt I believe was 900 bucks. If I could afford to do so I'd buy it and cremate the blighter I was one mug who nearly bought this once, following my exorcism I still kiss the Bible before bed. 'We do it wrong, being so majestical, To offer it the show of violence; For it is, as the air, invulnerable, And our vain blows malicious mockery'. Eric
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Hi, What is the exact criteria used to identify it as a fake? All the goodies look OK, but it is pretty ugly.... Maybe the Pricetag is the key? Many people do not want something in this condition? Best Chris
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 I must admit, it is not a one looker... and I don't know if it is good or not... so I would be interested to hear opinions...
Hoss Posted October 4, 2014 Author Posted October 4, 2014 Helmet belongs to Tony so folks only talk of it in emails and pms he needs to state what year he acquired where and from who. When I had it on hold at collectors guild it was universally condemned by US and European colleagues so I contacted Peter and backed out. Eric
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 4, 2014 Posted October 4, 2014 Hi, I know very little about Saxon Tschakos, I did not even know there were Saxon ones with the peak at the back. So I cannot comment with any authority and have no idea if its good or not. I would be interested in any definate info as to why it may be good or bad? The Nay sayers must also have something concrete? Are there any known examples to compare it to?
Hoss Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 (edited) Chris The naysayers are completely dispassionate knowledgeable collectors in fact I received an email from one such Gent this morning another promised to reiterate but he's busy having just arrived back from the MAX. I wouldn't care but when something is bad and married to German Machine Gunners,,,expect the Wrath of Khan btw the best replicas of these ersatz jobs were not made in UK but by a great friend of mine out of Pittsburgh PA decades ago never to be sold as original. Chris Boonzaier Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Chris The naysayers are completely dispassionate knowledgeable collectors Eric Indeed... but evey piece has a naysayer, a yeahsayer and a guy on the fence who does not know (in this case, Moi). I seriously know nothing about these.... did not know the Saxons even wore Tschakos this shape, and have an open ear to all arguments and sides on this.
Hoss Posted October 11, 2014 Author Posted October 11, 2014 Thanks Chris for leaving the thread up. Eric
Chris Boonzaier Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Of course amigo... I am keen to read the yeahs and nays....
