Odulf Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Recently I found this portrait of a Heeres Beamter (Army Official). On the pleat of the left breast pocket, a square (unidentified) tinnie with the silhouettes of 3 fighter planes. Can any one identify this tinnie, please?
padro Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Hi Odulf this tinnie would appear to be a Luftsport tinnie and the planes are actually gliders. They are mounted on a piece of real amber, so the background is a nice orange colour. Though why this guy would be wearing one is another matter! Best regards Pete
Odulf Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 Thank you very much Pete, I will see if I can find some more about this.Luftsport badge.
Odulf Posted October 22, 2014 Author Posted October 22, 2014 I have found it It is a Winterhilfswerk broach of the Reichsluftschutzbund. There is a magnificent complete collection of all the WHW Spendeabzeichen (donation badges) at the website of Hermann Historica (Lot Nr. 8362) http://www.hermann-historica.de/auktion/hhm64.pl?db=kat64_WHW.txt&f=ZAEHLER&c=0&t=temartic_W_GB&co=6
