It has a "inner" hat, which I think is more for protecting your head against bumps when crawling around looking for hidden illegals... a pretty good invention... we have all painfully hit our heads at some stage....

UK Border Agency - what was wrong with the old Immigration Officers ? Also, so many units are now being re-uniformed -

makes it hard to tell them from municipal workers. Basically, they have gone from a comfortable cap, that had padding , to

a baseball cap that requires an inner plastic dome for protection. I ask you - is that progress ?

I think probably more practicle.... I imagine they are climbing around in ships, trucks, containers.... very easy to hit your noggin on a bulkhead or door frame... and not so easy with a peaked cap... Maybe they keep the peaked caps for parades or something.... German boder police also have an everyday uniform with peaked cap and a dirty work uniform with beret...
