paul wood Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Nice Bertrand Star 1914-21, the designs for the star (and the badge) in diamonds is illustrated in Car and Muhic's book on Serbian Orders Page 219. A major rarity, the price of 15.5k Euros does not surprise me in the least.Paul
paja Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Thanks for the link! There's topic on GMIC about one more Bertrand's brilliant St. Sava Order like that: That one was awarded to Queen Maria of Romania, unfortunately photos are still unavailable...
utopis Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 very niece piece - wish I had known about that auction ....In my opinion, even though damaged, not really that expensive
paul wood Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Radmilo,Thanks for reminding us about Queen Marie's setPaul
paja Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Don't mention it Paul. What I would really like to know is to whom it was awarded.
Rogi Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Wow what a beautiful star probably one of a kind piece Diamonds makes me think maybe Royal recipient?
paul wood Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Almost certainly a Royal Recipient, probably one of the many families who sought refuge in France after the 1st or 2nd World War.Paul
obi007 Posted March 30, 2015 Author Posted March 30, 2015 Thanks to everyone for the detailed answers , but does someone knows how many of those kind awarded to the people or Royal Families ???
Rogi Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Thanks to everyone for the detailed answers , but does someone knows how many of those kind awarded to the people or Royal Families ???All the records for orders and medals for Serbia/Yugoslavia were destroyed in the German bombings of April 1941, a bomb hit the chancellery of orders and that was that, no more records of recipients, producers etc. No one knows how many of these beautiful pieces are in existence.
paul wood Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Very few I would guess. Possibly Bertrand would have recordsPaul
obi007 Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Another one with Diamon just sold on eBay ✨✨✨✨http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=151639000564
paja Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Looks like someone added the outer part with diamonds on cockade.
Rogi Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Looks like someone added the outer part with diamonds on cockade.Have to agree, it looks almost exactly like the same type of addition as that Turkish order in the other thread.
