Jacques Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 The members of the LC returned home on bord of several ships: Sierra Cordoba, Wilhem Gustloff, It seems that programm were edited for each ship including daily time table and menu. This one is for the F/88 which travelled on the W. Gustloff.
David Gregory Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Jaques,Ships' menus seem to be collectible items in their own right. The connection to your partuclar collecting field makes this one even better.Do you have any more?David
Jacques Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 here are the same kind of cards for each day of the travel, edited for the ship Sierra Cordoba, on which traveled the members of the Panzergruppe Drohne.
Jacques Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 Here is the inside of the programm sheet. Note the name "Sierra Cordoba" on which boat travelled the members of the PzGruppe Drohne, the instructors of the military academies, the signal Coy, and the Imker Gruppe Staff from 26 to 31May. Which is interesting on this one is the date. It is dated 1 June 39. I guess this one was an extra.
Guest Rick Research Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 They travelled TO Spain as secret civilian "tourists" but came home as "public" military units?Tch tch! So much for "security!"
Jacques Posted March 15, 2006 Author Posted March 15, 2006 They travelled TO Spain as secret civilian "tourists" but came home as "public" military units?Tch tch! So much for "security!" Right ! but the other returns, during the civil war period, were more quiet and less mediatized.
Jacques Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 With the group came also this named travel ticket
Jacques Posted May 17, 2006 Author Posted May 17, 2006 To illustrate the "Sierra Cordoba" ship menu:the picture shows two members of the PzGruppe Drohne during the travel back to Germany in may 1939. On left is the known Paul Zundorf.jacques
