Gordon Williamson Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Just acquired this beauty thanks to Glenn.
Gordon Williamson Posted March 14, 2006 Author Posted March 14, 2006 What I didn't notice at first is that the tip of the screw post is marked. At first I thought it was some sort of incidental or accidental mark, but its too uniform and precise.Looks like an inverted "Z" or "N". Anybody seen anything like this before?
joe campbell Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 am i going bonkers here???can't be a Z or an N based on that photo, although it certainly is a purposeful mark.my vote would be for a stylized "S".joe
Glenn R Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 This has perplexed me too Gordon. I have seen this on crosses with this screwback configuration before but have never bottomed it. Certainly in my opinion a deliberate marking. I've wondered if it's a quality control type mark?
Daniel Murphy Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 I agree that it is a quality control or assemblers mark, definitely not the maker because this one is known (Deutsche Offizier Verein).Dan Murphy
