Chris Boonzaier Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 3 things I do not understand here... Who is the officer and why does he sign off as Präsident? What were German troops doing in Bukarest in late december 1918 Were they somehow involved in the Romanian-Hungarian war? Any help appreciated, Thanks Chris
Glenn J Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Chris, Oberst Max Kawelmacher. Presumably still in the process of withdrawing back to Germany? Regards Glenn Here is the good Colonel (later Generalmajor). Edited November 28, 2015 by Glenn J
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 Hi Glenn, Thanks! He looks like a Kawelmacher somehow... Appretiate the info. Still cannot figure out how he can be Präsident in a Military unit? Was he Reichswehr or Wehrmacht Generalmajor?
Glenn J Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Chris, charakter as a Prussian Generalmajor on 19 January 1920. In normal civil practice, the chief of an Eisenbahndirektion held the title of Präsident, so it would seem the military utilized the same office title. Regards Glenn
Chris Boonzaier Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 Hi Glenn, thanks a million... I am back on course on the EK Document project and can use all the help I can get ;-)
