Dublin Peeler Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Picked up a brass Kings crown emblem, approx. 1 1/2" across, told it was worn on a uniform sleeve. Anybody have any info on it, and did there exist a QVC version also . Cheers...Tom.
peter monahan Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 If it is in fact a segeant major's sleeve crown there would certainly have been a QVC version. I say 'if' because my knowledge of early badges is like the Missouri River: a mile wide but an inch deep!
Jerry B Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Worn on arm by Warrant Officer class II, also an RAF version
Odulf Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 (edited) I think you are mistaking Jerry, it is a Warrant Officer III The Warrant Officers (WO's) wear their badges of rank on both lower sleeves. I was told by an old WO2 that the WO3 were made obsolete in about 1942, the obsolete crowns were issued to the Staff Sergeants to wear over their 3 chevrons, as can also be seen in many photos of those days. Enclosed a page from a 1943 booklet containing insignia of the British Army, Navy, R.A.F. and Auxialiaries. Edited February 7, 2016 by Odulf
