    British Airborne and Aviation

    Recommended Posts

I've had all these for years an purchased all from British militaria collectors.

Really haven't collected in years and need guidance on where to look to get values for all of these items. I've sold off the airborne berets and uniforms but may have a few armored item in boxes. image.thumb.jpeg.76946568d0f2534b1453375

I may keep the RFC wings as I still collect WW1 but all the WW2 needs to go. I have no room.

The Army Flying Badge (Glider Pilot wing) in the lower left of the photo is an original example. Average ebay price for these is around £120 but the cut at the top of the lion might be an issue for some.

Good luck with selling, all the Airborne stuff looks fine to me with the exception of the Parachute Regiment. cap badge with slider. Sorry I can't be of more help, but I specialise in Glider Pilot Regiment insignia only.

Thanks, I used to collect and all were from  quality collectors. The beret badge with slider came off an old para beret.

I had airborne smock, berets, BD, and such but all are gone but these. Selling all for WW1

I'm no expert on the Parachute Regiment but have it on good authority that badges with slider fittings are post-WWII. If of course, the beret it was removed from was post-1945 dated, then I'll dig a large hole and bury myself in it immediately!. :D

I have a friend who has just started out collecting WWII British Airborne; he's a serving soldier himself. I mentioned you having these badges and he would like to have a chat. Would it be alright for me to send you a PM with his email address?.

    Sure,

the beret was worn and no way to know date but it was same construction as the wartime. It was post war beret for sure as I only paid $100.00

I'm okay with letting it all go. I have someone interested in the glider badge but hasn't made offer yer.

    Thanks my friend, PM incoming!.

Hopefully the beret you sold was indeed a post-war one :wacky: . One trick way to reveal worn markings on these is to spray a little water on the liner.

I gave it to my son and it have a real WW2 airborne beret badge on it.  It had a small cut and he liked it so that's what he used to play with. It's in his room somewhere unless he traded it.

I collected WW2 since the 70's. Much that was cheap is not getting to be valuable but, unfortunately, I lost track of most from my younger days. You grow up, military, school, etc.

I mainly collect only WW2 now days  I still have some WW2 items in storage and such that I really haven't cared to sell until now  need to raise money for a nice and rare Naval Infantry Shako

Kings crown para badges on a slider did exist but as stated, they were only issued post 1945, though as with all badges, fakes do exist, the devil is in the detail.  Hard to say from these pics if any are bad, but they all seem OK as far as I can tell.

Thanks for the confirming that Jerry.

Judging by the quality of items in CCJ's collection, I'm pretty sure that particular badge will be a good original post-45 example ;)

I should add that original kings crown examples with a slider are less common that the wartime lugged examples, though being post war are not perhaps as valuable as their uncommon status might suggest.

Wise words my friend, the very same thing applies to GPR insignia
