Unidentified uniform

I've just acquired this old coat, I think it dates from the George II period, does anyone know if it is a military jacket or a civilian coat.

Is it English or continental , The buttons have sadly been removed so I would like to try and source the correct buttons if possible .

would appreciate any suggestions , thanks

Not military but may be livery, ie: a servant's uniform.

Thanks for your advice on my old coat, if it is a livery uniform then it will be virtually impossible to identify and find the correct buttons.

If you have no story coming with the coat; I am afraid you will never know.

Sadly that's the case: without provenance it could be one of many many things and, unlike military wear, there are no regulations nor lists by which to ID such items.
