Greg Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I recently fulfilled a long term desire and bought an original KCVO (Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order) from a reputable dealer in the UK. When it arrived here in Australia, I was surprised at the size of the Star. It was smaller than I had expected. Does anyone else happen to have one or have access to the correct dimensions? One thought has crossed my mind - that I have received a ladies version (DCVO) which could explain the smaller size Star. Pictures I have seen of the Royals show Camilla (GCVO) wearing a narrower riband than the men. Can anyone assist me? Greg.
Red Eagle Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) My star, no:925, awarded to a german men (Prof. Dr. Heinz Maria OEFTERING) in 1965, is 73 mm. Edited January 1, 2017 by Red Eagle
Greg Posted January 1, 2017 Author Posted January 1, 2017 Thank you for clearing this up for me.. Mine is 73mm too so that means it is fine. Greg.
Red Eagle Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Can anyone tell me who have signed my showed above document as the chancellor?
peter monahan Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 I'm not at all sure when the document was signed. If it was in 1965 then the Chancellor of the Exchequer - is that the right man even? - was James Callaghan, but the signature looks nothing like that name. Here is a list of past Chancellors: https://www.gov.uk/government/history/past-chancellors
Red Eagle Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Well, I think we have dont look for a Chancellor of the Exchequer; we have to look for a Chancellor of the Royal Victorian Order. It´s not the same, isnt it?
Red Eagle Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 (edited) I think I found him: Cameron Fromanteel Cobbold, 1st Baron Cobbold, PC 29 January 1963 (GCVO) Lord Chamberlain to the Queen and Chancellor of the Royal Victorian Order Edited February 5, 2017 by Red Eagle
