dond
Is this Mecklenburg Schwerin 1914 Grand Duke Franz Friedrich Military Merit Cross the non-combatant version? I know the only difference is the ribbon color. What would I expect to pay for one of these/I have his combatant brother.ThanksDon
dond
The combatant one.
dond
The reverse. I think next to the EKs these are the nicest imperial EK equivelents.Don

Guest Rick Research
That's actually the ribbon for the Mecklenburg Long Service awards rather than the noncombatant Friedrich Franz. Long services have that wine purple center, while the noncombatant FFC should be centered in red the same color as the edge stripe of the combatant ribbon.(Both Lippes are a tie with -Schwerin for Gilt Things, but I'm 50/50 between those and the deep chocolate bronzes of Brunswick and Anhalt.) Stogieman
I'm pretty sure that First Class Cross is made by Godet. Pin, hinge and catch are consistent with other Godet examples. Any marks on it??!
dond
Thanks for the quick replies. I couldn't place the ribbon.Stogie, no marks on the first class.Don
Stogieman
Awesome cross, nonetheless. I'd bet it's a Godet. The angled pin end mounting to the hinge is a spot-on match to not only Godet EK1's, but to a couple of (definately) period Flight Badges I've been studying and trying to pin the maker down on. Ed_Haynes
So far, there isn't much at the OMSA site. Can someone feed it, please?http://www.omsa.org/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=
Guest Rick Research
Not a member Ed, but if you want to re-post any of mine over there, just ask (and I'd like credit in comments or wherever). I have Red China, Ottoman Turkey, Finland, PR Viet Nam etc that have been posted here "loose and straight on" as those are posted. Tougher for Imperial German in medal bars since overlapping, but pinbacks are available. Why don't you start a "Wish List" sort of new thread for ones you want/need over there?
