Jock Auld Posted April 6, 2017 Posted April 6, 2017 Guys, My namesake here died of wounds sadly after the war at the tender age of 20. What a shame, what a waste. Unusual that his wound tag is with the paperwork? More, There is a pile of felpost from 43 till the end as well. I have only posted two as representative of the pile.
Bernhard H.Holst Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Hello Jock. Thank you for posting this truly sad story. The wound nature was indeed severe ( l. thigh fracture ). Who knows what complications set in that took his life. Certain medications were not available after the capitulation which might have saved his life. Apparently upon discharge from being a PoW he entered a hospital for some time. Bernhard H. Holst
Brett Hendey Posted April 7, 2017 Posted April 7, 2017 Jock Thank you for sharing this sad story with us. We know that the death of any soldier must be mourned by someone, somewhere, but in this instance the documentation makes it sadder still, since it reveals the circumstances so close to being discharged, and the names of his family who he left behind. Regards Brett
Bayern Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Jock . Indeed a sad story ,the wound was severe , he was not transportable , they administered him a high dosis of serum agaist tetanus . perhaps he died of tetanus , it was not uncommon the late apparition of tetanus .60 or more days after the wound .
Jock Auld Posted April 9, 2017 Author Posted April 9, 2017 Glad it is of interest! Shame about the young lad that almost made it through!
