Chris Boonzaier Posted June 3, 2017 Posted June 3, 2017 HI, how much variation is there to the Bavarian Buckle? I think of them as "There is a brass and nickle version... and a steel one...." ... but with Saxon ones there seem to be way more variation (I am talking the standard one here, not regiment specific. Sttel, brass, zink etc.. Were the saxons simply more experimental?
Fritz die Spinne Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 I have observed: Nickel on brass (or Tombak--but do not seem to see the Tombak except rarely) Nickel completely for Leib, Pionier, usw. Steel with the medallion applied like on the earlier style. These are more commonly painted black instead of Feldgrau. Steel stamped from one piece, painted Black or Feldgrau. I also see many more Bavarian buckles painted Feldgrau over the Nickel/Brass.
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 24, 2017 Author Posted September 24, 2017 Ugh! I missed that.... they had all nickle ones????

Chris Boonzaier Posted September 26, 2017 Author Posted September 26, 2017 Are you sure? this has them with regular ones? If they did have nickel ones I have something to add to my "to buy" list...
Fritz die Spinne Posted September 26, 2017 Posted September 26, 2017 Well, I have seen a handful, and this was easily the understanding. Private purchase?
