JBFloyd Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 This came to me described as the star of the Libyan Order of Good Workmanship. However, all the images I can find of this order show the center enameled areas to be in green, rather than red and black. The center inscription is appropriate and it's marked by Bomisa. Is this an earlier type? A trial piece? Something else entirely?
ChrisW Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Knowing very little about this medal, is it possible that this is a 1970s-era version, when the Libyan flag's colors were red/white/black? And the green-centered ones reflect the all-green flag adopted in 1977?
JBFloyd Posted June 30, 2017 Author Posted June 30, 2017 It would certainly make sense that the decisions bringing about the flag change would also be reflected in the design of orders.
oamotme Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 Jeff, As Chris notes there are two versions - pre and post the proclamation of the Jamahariayah. Regards, Owain
JBFloyd Posted July 1, 2017 Author Posted July 1, 2017 Thank you both for the input. It's been most helpful.
Megan Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Having just added the later version to my website, here's an image of the beast:
