Tobias Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 Hello Gentlemen! Today I present you the German Bayonet 98/02 with saddlebacks. It was usually part of the equipment of the non-commissioned officers (Unteroffiziere). This particular bayonet was found in a sewer and professionally restored. The handles and sheath were complemented. Here it is depicted in comparsion with the standard version which was later replaced by the 98/05 ("German butcher blade bayonet"). Bye, Tobias
Richie B Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 (edited) I think the bayonet you are showing is the s98. This is the s98/02 Edited September 16, 2017 by Richie B
Tobias Posted September 16, 2017 Author Posted September 16, 2017 Sorry, thanks for the correction! Yes, of course it is a Bayonet 98! The labels for the edged weapons vary greatly (especially in the postwar equipment), therefore I got one confused.
Farkas Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 Hi Tobias good to see them side by side A great looking pair..... tony
Tobias Posted September 17, 2017 Author Posted September 17, 2017 Sorry again for the mistake. Good news is: now I'm presenting you the actual bayonet 98/02. Please enjoy. Bye, Tobias
Richie B Posted September 18, 2017 Posted September 18, 2017 A rare bayonet - I could never afford to buy one when I was collecting.
