This is named "774 DPCR LOH KUM WAH."

I cannot come up with any logical explanation for the rank abbreviation. "PC" would seem obvious, if NOT sandwiched between "D" and "R." Something like "District Police Constable Reservist" doesn't sound likely-- but is that possible?

I've never seen that before. Could it be Detective Police Constable Reservist? Mr Chairman may know....

Yeah, the R on the end throws me, because it soulds alien in English in that word order...

and I very much doubt that 774 was a DePuty CommissioneR either.

Just one of those things I think of at 3 AM. :speechless-smiley-004:

    Cripes ! Sounds like a Malayan P.C.S.O. !

Is this a 'Homebeat' office or a Internal Investigations thing?

    John.

    I haven't got a clue.

Whenever I see the word 'Community' these days, I just switch off.

Thank God I've less than 3 years to do.

I don't think "Community Relations" had been invented yet in 1950! ohmy.gif

Spot on, but it's the only 'official' use of these particular initials I could find. I don't think they relate to the medal either.

When that medal was awarded, community relations probably consisted of....

"Do you want one lump on your head, or two, Sir?" :speechless-smiley-004:

Still, I wonder what this chaps role was?

And Robin, I'm stunned at your dislike of the 'buzz word', Community..... My absolute favourite word is 'DIVERSITY' ! Hmmmm .... laugh.gif

I think your original suggestion fits spot on.

    District Police Constable Reserve.

17 years on, can we shine any new light on this medal?

Has anyone come across other example since?
