Chris Boonzaier Posted September 27, 2017 Posted September 27, 2017 This pops up quite often, but I have not found any info on it.... If I understand it correctly, it seems to be from the Leib Regiment to the Austrian Allies who defended Tirol with them?
Valter Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Yes, they fought in Tirol in 1915, shoulder-to-shoulder with Austrians. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpenkorps_(German_Empire) https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Königlich_Bayerisches_Infanterie-Leib-Regiment
Chris Boonzaier Posted September 29, 2017 Author Posted September 29, 2017 Hi, I had not read the back in ages and had slipped into the thought that it was from the Leib Regt to all who had served with them in the Tirol, then reading it again last week I thought "Hang on, its to the Austrians...." I am also pretty sure it was post war, there was a Leiber Treffen in the early 20s where the Austrians were invited.
