Simon's Silva Rerum
Do you think it's original? Edited December 3, 2018 by Simon's Silva Rerum
Beau Newman
Wrong ribbon. It's probably an old wearing copy. The issue pieces had a wider suspension and were inscribed on the rim. This one probably isn't.
Paul R
What era do you think it was made? Turn of the 20th century?
Beau Newman
You see these pretty often on medal bars mounted with the campaign bars, which didn't appear until the 1890's. These are probably from the same time frame.
Schießplatzmeister
Hello, This appears to be an old private striking made from different dies than the originals. It is also probably not made from captured enemy cannon bronze and therefore lacks the "from captured cannon" impression on the edge. As noted the suspension is unlike the originals and the ribbon is not of the proper type. It is "original", but is a period-made piece offered for sale by a private firm and is not a piece that was awarded by a government entity.
