ocpd71
I have some old pre 94 SAP uniforms with different style nameplates. Both are brass colored with the name in blue enamel. One has just the name, while the other has a small pre 94 RSA flag next to the name. Anyone have any information to narrow down the time frames when these different variations were used? mickey
the blue enamel and brass name and number plates were in use from the 1950s thru the sixties and probably into the 70s and later, the plates with the pre 94 flag attached later 80s into the 90s (pre 94) they have a lucite covering but really need a photo
Wessel Gordon
I'm in South Africa as well and can honestly say I never paid attention to any policeman's nameplate although if I see a policeman or SANDF member I always check their rank since I am more interested in that. My usual reaction in seeing a police officer is usually ''oh crap...did I do something illegal I can't remember?'' Although I used to be friends with the commanding officer of the Kimberley SAPS which was lieutenant-colonel before he quit.
