Reference book for all UK medals

I am fairly new to medal collecting and I'm looking for a reliable reference book on the topic of British military medals.

Is there a ''go to'' reference book for collectors of UK medals?

Hi, there is the medal year book published by token publishing ltd. website www.tokenpublishing.com. this lists virtually all medals issued in the uk with values. hope this helps Ian

The book Ian has mentioned lists British, and Commonwealth, medals and gives basic information on each one.  These books are heavy and would probably be expensive to mail to your location.  Here is a link to a site that sells the annual year book as well as other books on medals.

Thanks for the replies. I did browse on the Amazon site for books about medals but decided to get some advice from more experienced collectors before committing to one book which might end up not being what I need.

There is also British Battles and Medals, 7th Edition, which is indispensable for collectors of British campaign medals and British Gallantry Awards by Abbott and Tamplin which is excellent for British decorations.

I was going to recommend both Gordon and Abbott and Tamplin but my expertise on books is 20 years out of date.  Both still hold pride of place on my bookshelf but I wasn't certain whether newer, better books were out there.  I still treasure both a 6th edition and a 7th of Gordon, for the detailed information on which units earned which bars.  In fact a friend was responsible, 30 plus years ago now, for adding to and correcting some of the units of the Indian Army mentioned in the campaign medals for that part of the Empire.
