SRI LANKA 2 NEW ARMED FORCES MEDALS

Hello Gentlemen, 

During my visit to Sri Lanka, it seems I fall the good day, as 2 brand new medals for service in the Armed Forces were release that day.

This medal is said for service, but which kind of services. However it is what it is.

Its name is Seva Bhimani Padakkama. Seva is for service, and last word Padakkama is for medal or award.

Medals are well made, this one : 37 x 46 Millimeters with a weight of 42 Grammes.

Good quality strike for a modern medal.

And when you search for, in depth, you catch the information.

The Seva Bhumi Padakkama, is awarded for 6 Years service faultless, but after the end of the civil war (which ended in May 2009).

The second medal that was instituted by Sri Lanka, so so recently is the Seva Padakkama, or Service Medal

This medal has been instituted in 2009, for service, actually 3 years of services, but after the end of the Civil War.

The medal is 34 x 45 Millimeters & weight is 43 Grammes.

Interesting medals.  Are they made from Brass or some other material?
