Rather than the standard bell-shaped stiff top or soft-looking top, notice how the next-to-the-last guy on the right (wearing a leather coat) has already started with the Wehrmacht look on his hat! :P

Alas and alack, overcoats are the pits for identifying officers!!!

There were a gazillion von R?ders, and no Rank List specified "with beard" to tell them apart.

Slightly better for von Rango who liked to tango with spurs that go jingo jango...

Generalmajor aD Ralf von Rango (1866-1939) commanded 7th J?ger Battalion before the war, and ended as CO of 6th Guards Infantry Brigade.

Major von Rango had been a BUSY battalion commander over the winter of 1913-14,

adding to his Red Eagle 4th with Crown, XXV and 1897 the following (gazette dates from Milit?r- Wochenblatt)--

    W?rttemberg Crown Order-Knight 3.3.14

    Saxe-Ernestine House Order-Commander 3.3.14

    Waldeck Merit Cross-Officer 21.4.14

    and

    Schaumburg-Lippe House Order-Officer 19.5.14

though all that turns up for him DURING the war are

Bavarian Military Merit Order 3X awarded 13.6.16 and gazetted 8.7.16

Prussian HHO3X gazetted 7.11.16 as Commander of J?ger Regiment 3

    and

Prussian Crown Order 2X gazetted 22.12.17
