Reservists marksmanship badge

Hi everyone, I just acquired this badge and have a question. I always thought these came in black lacquer cases. Also the pin on the back as well as the layout of the kanji is different. Is this just a late war badge with its proper case?

Case is original to the badge.

Same story with the pin. 

As per today the manufacture of this variation is unknown to me. 

Badges in black lacquer cases were manufactured by Naigai Medal Co., Tokyo.
