It looks OK from the pictures Late WW1 production

I suspect it was repainted at one stage

    Cheers

Parece bom pelas fotos. Produção do final da 1ª Guerra Mundial

    Hello Graf,

Thanks for your opinion! It really looks like a late production. In addition to the medal being well "punished" by time, with several marks and scratches. That may be why it was repainted.

I have an EK2 from 1 Late Production War. She gets to be weird, but many colleagues confirmed her originality. It also appears to have been repainted.

    Cheers

    Hi Joaobr,

It is relatively common some EKs to be repainted. In my opinion it is more likely l late after the War by some enthusiastic collectors. Remember more serious and advanced collectors like the EKs in their  original condition

They do not mind to have scratched or damaged EKs till they can upgrade them with ones with  better, preferably mint or nearly mint conditions.  Many Dealers will not bother to repaint the EKs They get their profit by hunting bargains and re-selling for a some kind of profit

    Hi,

    Thanks for the comments.

I too, and particularly, like the old pieces as they are: with as much of their "history showing up."
This EK1 is being sold by a collector who is getting rid of some things and I will keep it.

    Cheers

    Hi,

That proves my point. This collector either upgraded some of his EKs, or is trimming, or reshaping his collection as all we do from time to time

It is not bad EK1 and if the prize is right keep it till you like it or better one comes along

    Cheers
