Deutschritter Posted October 20, 2021 Posted October 20, 2021 Gentlemen, Friedrich Adam Julius von Bernhardi received in WW I the EK II and I, also Pour le Mérite with Eichenlaub. Anything else? Does anyone know as what (Fahnenjunker?) he joined the military in 1869? Thanks!

Morning Andreas, yes, in Husaren-Regiment Nr. 14. Here his promotion from Unteroffizier to Portepee-Fähnrich on 9 December 1869 as listed in the Militär-Wochenblatt. Regards Glenn 1
Deutschritter Posted October 21, 2021 Author Posted October 21, 2021 Thank you, Glenn! So another Avantegeur (18.4.1869) → (Gefreiter) → Unteroffizier → Fähnrich. I have him as a Sekondeleutnant 2.9.1870, but maybe with Patent (or Rangdienstalter) from 8.2.1869? You know what is funny? His father, and therefore he, were elevated to Prussian nobels on 1 March 1873, but 1869 he was already listed as "v."? Maybe as "baltendeutscher Adel" they were allowed to carry the "von" after their return to Germany (spring 1851), but it was only made official 1873? Oh well, we will probably never know.
