Deutschritter
Gentlemen, I have here a Hans Joachim Ernst Alexander Robert von Falkenhausen (1897--1934), the youngest brother of the General der Infanterie, who would later become a SA-Oberführer. But I am more interested in his WW I career. What decorations other than EK II and I, and VWA in black (or Mattweiß for his lost leg?) did he receive? In which unit did he serve? Sächsische Armee? Was he at last Leutnant or Leutnant der Reserve? Any help would be great. Edited November 14, 2021 by Deutschritter
Dave Danner
He was an active Leutnant in Kgl. Sächs. 1. Leib-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 100. He was name a Leutnant on 16.4.1915 and received a Patent of 5.10.1914. The ribbon bar is in Saxon precedence: 1. Sachsen: Verdienstorden, Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern 2. Sachsen: Albrechts-Orden, Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern 3. Preußen: EK2 (with the little EK mini device popular among Saxons) 4. Sachsen-Meiningen: Ehrenkreuz für Verdienst im Kriege 5. ? He was killed before the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer was established, so Nr. 5 is probably one of the various Weimar-era veterans organization medals which the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer replaced.
