CUBA . SPAIN 1936-9 MEDAL

Would anyone be able to provide information about awarding authority , award criteria , recipient population , numbers awarded etc

of bronze wearable medal inscribed " COMBATIENTE INTERNACIONALISTA  ESPANA 1936 1939 " .

Presumably for survivors ( Cuban only ? ) of the International Brigades 

My internet searches did not turn up anything other than an illustration

numis , All i know about the Cubans which fought into the Brigadas Internacionales is that one of these was Rolando Masferrer , a well known leftist and adventurer , he was Senator and leaded a gang called Tigres de Masferrer . take a look in Wiki to his Biography ,Rolando Masferrer Rojas .  about 1000 Cubans fought in the Spanish Civil War for the Republican side, the casualties were high some sources said that died. Another well known combattant was Pablo de la Torriente Brau ,Ramiro Azcuy, Joaquin Ordoqui, Jaime Cuevas , Policarpo Candon , Alberto Bofill and  many more

My Pleasure ! i also discovered that existed in the Castro Cuba something as a VETERANS of the Spanish Civil War Association

I would be interested to know whether this is an official ( Cuban state ) award or an unofficial award such as that of a veteran's organization

I would also be interested to receive details of the ribbon , if any , that went with this medal

Both specimens that I have acquired are without ribbon
