Deutschritter Posted January 15, 2022 Posted January 15, 2022 Gentlemen, does anyone have any informationen about Generalmajor Georg Zimmermann (1877--1956 ???), wo would become Generalleutnant on the Tannenbergtag? Thanks!
Deutschritter Posted January 15, 2022 Author Posted January 15, 2022 Thank you, Glenn! You do not happen to have an exact death date? If you know anything about this officer, I would appreciate your help very much!
Glenn J Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 General Zimmermann died on 8 November 1956. Regards Glenn 1
Deutschritter Posted January 19, 2022 Author Posted January 19, 2022 (edited) Georg Zimmermann served first in the Füsilier-Regiment „General-Feldmarschall Graf Blumenthal“ (Magdeburgisches) Nr. 36 and was promoted on 7 March 1896 to Sekondeleutnant. He may even have entered as such (coming from the Kadettenkorps?), but I have not found a source for that. Here are the decorations I have for him, surely missing one or two, probably at least one foreign decoration not shown in the Rangliste of the Reichswehr. Zentenarmedaille, 1897 Preußischer Kronenorden, IV. Klasse Eisernes Kreuz (1914), II. und I. Klasse Kriegsverdienstkreuz (Braunschweig), II. Klasse (BrK2) Hessische Tapferkeitsmedaille (HT) Hamburgisches Hanseatenkreuz (HH) Militärverdienstorden (Bayern), IV. Klasse mit Schwertern und der Krone (BM4⚔mKr) Friedrichs-Orden, Ritterkreuz mit Schwertern (WF3⚔) Orden vom Zähringer Löwen, Ritterkreuz I. Klasse (BZ3a⚔) Königlicher Hausorden von Hohenzollern, Ritterkreuz mit Schwertern (HOH3⚔) Fürstlich Hohenzollern'sches Ehrenzeichen, Ehrenkreuz II. Klasse (HEK2⚔/HE2⚔) Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer Edited January 19, 2022 by Deutschritter

He was commissioned directly into Füsilier-Regiment Nr. 36 from the Kadettenkorps effective 7 March 1896. This from the Militär-Wochenblatt of 1896, edition number 22 of 11 March 1896.
