gjw Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 (edited) Hey all, got a couple today to add to the collection. First up is a One Wound, Wound Medal. This one is not your typical War Metal medal, appears to be be zinc. Very nicely struck with very fine details The second is a nice sharp Bravery Medal in Silver, 2nd Class Best, Greg Edited September 3, 2022 by gjw 1
graham Posted September 3, 2022 Posted September 3, 2022 (edited) Very nice. The wound medals were mostly made of zinc-alloy, but also bronze with a gray wash and aluminium. Edited September 4, 2022 by graham 1
gjw Posted September 3, 2022 Author Posted September 3, 2022 Thanks for the kind words! Your right, they were made in a zinc-alloy (war metal), zinc and bronze as you said. The bronze were made by Winter and Adler. The one I posted has no makers mark. Shame. Stay well Greg
graham Posted September 4, 2022 Posted September 4, 2022 The zinc-alloy(Kriegsmetall) medals I believe are slightly thicker(3mm) than the bronze ones which were about 2.5mm thick. Greg, how many stripes(if any) does yours have on its ribbon? 1
