Duncan Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Can someone tell me if the abbreviations on the rear of this medal refer to Indian Grenadiers please? If so would the award of the 1939-1945 Star indicate active service against the Japanese in the Burma campaign?
bigjarofwasps Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) Looks like they served in the Middle East as well. So this medal could potentially be for either or both these campaigns, perhaps? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Grenadiers Edited February 2, 2023 by bigjarofwasps

ChrisKelly Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Possible. Like most British & Commonwealth outfits, storied history by battalion(s). "13354 L/NK RAM SINGH IND. GRS." 》"13354 Lance Naik Ram Singh Indian Grenadiers". Lance Naik - lance corporal. Equivalent rank in cavarly outfits, acting lance daffadar... Havildar - sergeant, subedar - warrant officer, jemadar - lieutenant. 1
