Unusual MONS 1914 medal.

Is anyone able to give me any information on this unusual medal please. I've searched Google but can find nothing on it.

Hiya,

Not much info available, but did find one for sale on Ebay.

 

Belgium, Antique Large Medal. 1914. City of Mons. Coat of arms. Belgian Pendant.

Weight  17,8 gr.

Dimensions  4,7 - 3,5 cm.

 

This is all the info that came with it.

PS: personal observation - Most likely made/issued BEFORE the war.

Thus nothing to do with the battle of Mons or WW I.

It may however have something to do with music / choir.

But I could be completely wrong 😁

The reverse reads "Society of reunited friends 1914" ... Porte du Parc is a neighbourhood in Mons. A very local commemorative medal, it would seem.
