I am searching for sites with displays, fotos and explenations of the officer ranks of the Ancien Regime, pre 1800.

in some sources the Mestre de camp is equal with the capitaine/chef de compagne, but it is defeinitevly lower than the Maréchal de camp?

 

And where between can the Brigadier de armée du roi set in?

According to my recherches between Colonel and BrigGen.
