Guest Rick Research Posted May 16, 2005 Posted May 16, 2005 (edited) Were they SUPPOSED to be on your beach? Where's, um, what was IN them? Edited May 16, 2005 by Rick Research
J Temple-West Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 Just part of the Island?s ?Liberation Day? celebrations, Rick.As you may, or may not know, the Channel Islands were occupied from 1940/45. We were bypassed during ?D-day? and only liberated (a year later) after the fall of Berlin. I suppose you could have called us the ?Channel Island pocket?.Every year we have visiting war ships, the Red Arrows display team, vet?s from the liberating forces do their march past, street parties, a re-enactment of the lowering of the Krieg flag from the old Kriegsmarine HQ in the town.We had some friends over for a barbeque, watched the air display from the garden and ended the day by going to a massive fireworks display. Here are the ?Red Arrows? doing their stuff..
J Temple-West Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 Must have been quite a view from the commercial aircraft in the background..
