Short question: During the Franco-German War, he served in Mainz. Would he have gotten the War Commemorative Medal of 1870–1871 for non-combatants? Thanks! Steel on combatant ribbon should that be, for the military that stayed "at home", while members of the Freiwillige Krankenpflege out in the field received the same medal on the non-combatant ribbon. I'm not sure what's the logic behind this... 1
