Avitas Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Hi all,I have here a Luftwaffe metal insignia of some sort, and I was wondering about its originality. It is 72 mm wingspan and appears to be either a chest eagle or an award of some kind. You don't see many of these around and I would like to know more about it. Is it an original piece or a fantasy piece? All info is great,Thanks,Pat
Avitas Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 and the back of the eagle. The pin appears to be a TR era pin as it is similar to many tinnie pins. Any help is welcome.Pat

Jos Le Conté Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 That's a typical bird..What material is it made off ?Jos.
Avitas Posted May 9, 2006 Author Posted May 9, 2006 I think it is a copper based form of kriegsmetall, in other words, a mix. It's definitely not tombak or pure zink, as it is not very dark.. I am not the best at judging metals, so if anybody else has any ideas please help out. The pin appears to be copper based as well, but I am not 100% certain.
Laurence Strong Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 (edited) What would it be for then? The only eagles that I can find that face too the right are the pith helmet eagle, the eagle on an Officer's cape, or the eagle decal for the helmet's all the rest face to the left.
