bolewts58 Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 (edited) This Iron Division trio just sold on eBay for 623 € which is pretty close to its retail value. Admittedly, Freikorps bars of any kind are hard to come by. But, I was a little surprised at the final price for this as it's a broken group. I'm not totally convinced that the EKII ribbon belongs on there. I suspect it may have originally been some other related medal such as the Baltic Cross, Russian George Cross or George Medal or perhaps an Avalov Cross 3rd class. Edited October 8, 2023 by bolewts58
dedehansen Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Hi bolewts58, it is the medal bar from Oberjäger Jürgen Hans or Haus. He got his EK 2 14 on the 01.11.1918, he served with Jäger Batl 1 Eiserne Division. These Informations comes from his Militärpaß, which was sold for 369,00 €. Kind regards Andreas

Kind regards Andreas Hi Andreas Thanks for the information. That makes all the difference regarding the price. Did his Militärpaß sell on eBay as well? I see that his membership card in the Eiserne Division veterans group is now being sold by the same seller. I hate when sellers split things up. Edited October 8, 2023 by bolewts58
dedehansen Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Hi bolewts58, unfortunately the Militärpaß was also sold this morning. Kind regards Andreas
bolewts58 Posted October 10, 2023 Author Posted October 10, 2023 Hans Jürgen's membership card for the Association of Former Members of the Iron Division.
bolewts58 Posted October 10, 2023 Author Posted October 10, 2023 Photo of Hans Jürgen (right) wearing the above medal bar but with an added medal after the EK which I think is the Deutsche Ehrenlegion medal.

bolewts58 Posted October 14, 2023 Author Posted October 14, 2023 (edited) Absolutely mind-numbing stupidity paying these kinds of prices for photos especially since they weren't bought by the buyer of the medal bar. So the photo of the recipient of the medal bar is owned by one buyer and the medal bar by a different buyer. Truly tragic and sad. Whoever these buyers are, they are not collectors, but insanely greedy acquisitors. Edited October 14, 2023 by bolewts58
Hundinger Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 (edited) Hi, the name of the protagonist is Gürgen. It is the person standing on the left. The person standing on the right is Heinz Rabe. Hans Gürgen was awarded the EK 1 after 1921. He also received the Baltenkreuz for his service in the Baltikum. From the freiwilligen russischen Westarmee he received the "schwarze Malteserkreuz 3. Klasse" as well as their "Erinnerungsmedaille". During the World War he received the Iron Cross 2nd Class on 01 November 1918. In pictures showing him as Fahnenträger des Vereins ehemaliger Angehöriger der Eisernen Division, Ortsgruppe Berlin, he also wears the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz.
