Carlo Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Hello everyone, I recently came across this medal for 40 years of faithful service with an uncommon ribbon attachment system. I've only seen a couple before, in my experience it should be one of the alternative methods for attaching the medal to the ribbon that were designed between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Not having had much success at the time, today there are only a few examples that can be found. 2
Stogieman Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Carlo, can you please show us the reverse? I’ve only seen this cased a couple of times before. Used to own one 1
Farkas Posted October 9, 2023 Posted October 9, 2023 Carlos, I too need to see more please... a treat to have complete and boxed. But also because the hanger is new to me. How does that work inside the ribbon? I’m think I’m going to have to open up one or two of mine now just in case 🤞 cheers tony 🍻
Carlo Posted October 12, 2023 Author Posted October 12, 2023 Hello everyone, here are more photos. To answer Farkas' question: the medal is attached to the ribbon by simply hooking the hook inside the upper edge of the ribbon. Unfortunately I no longer have the photo, but there is also a variant with a small metal element to reinforce where the medal attaches to the ribbon. 1

It did remind me of some ribbons I have. I took this photo a while back but it shows the use of ‘poppers’ on a few. It seemed odd to me but perhaps their use isn’t as unusual as I thought. tony 🍻 1
