Dusting off my collection, marking BJ found on Rising Sun

Greetings,

 

Almost ten years have passed since I joined this forum. Shortly after joining, I stopped collecting Japanese medals.

 

Recently I decided to remove the dust from my small collection and start again. Nice to see that my old account data were not lost on this forum. I will need some time to read all posts in the Japan forum from the last ten years. 🙃

 

On my Rising Sun 3rd class I found a marking which I had not noticed before. I found a posting listing 2 letter codes, maybe my eyesight is not yet fully developed 😉but I didn't see this one in the posts I've read so far. Could I be right in assuming this one is from the early 1980's?

 

Still lots to catch up on.

I had seen that list.but couldn't help notice that it is not always in alphabetical order. Some combinations appear later. Must be a logical explanation (?).

These are internal mint codes. Their actual purpose is still unknown (official mint representative couldn`t explain their purpose).  Despite some inconsistencies there is a clear alphabet/time correlation.
