Edwardian IMS Officers Field Service Cap.

Hi Gents,

I was lucky enough to find another Indian Medical Service FSC to complement the other two…
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I’ve got a ton of ton of IMS stuff I’ve been lucky enough to source, I’m still not entirely sure as to the structure of postings and uniforms. The first FSC is Victorian and in the then newly formed colours of the RAMC👇

A brief history below.

 

My Peaked Cap 👆 and this latest FSC are both later, Edwardian, but are in IMS black despite the badges being those of a ‘substantive colonel’ (I believe).
Ranks such as that would have been wearing RAMC colours or so I thought but apparently not 🤷‍♂️
Time has come to splash out 6 quid or so on the 1900 India dress regs!

So according to the 1913 dress regulations all Indian Medical Service officers, not only colonels, wore the Royal Crest on caps so that explains why my 2 are not in RAMC staff officer colours.
