WRANGEL Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Hello Gentlemen, A friend of mine owns this unidentified badge, it is unknown to french collectors. Could it be a british badge (patriotic ?) ? Cheers Bill
Gordon Craig Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 I am not aware of any British badge like this one. Regards, Gordon
WRANGEL Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 Hello Gordon, Thank you for your response and opinion. The mystery continues. Cheers Bill
Jerry B Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I also have never seen this badge, in any context
ChrisKelly Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Unfortunately, I cannot provide much, if any, assistance in identifying this badge. However, it looks like an air force squadron insignia, likely "custom-made". It doesn't show up in The National Geographic Magazine's issue of June 1943 (Volume LXXXIII, Number Six), "Aircraft Insignia, Spirit of Youth," whose color plates XXV-XXXII illustrate U.S.A.A.F., U.S.N. & U.S.M.C. aircraft insignia. My guess is it's an American aircraft/squadron/wing insignia to a specific unit, likely specialty-made, and from sometime 1942-1950.
