Guest Rick Research
There is no way to tell the difference, that I know of. The extra loop there behind the wreath is a nice way to help secure the thing so it wouldn't snag and pop off, but has no other significance than that as far as I ever knew. Mike K
Hi Paul,I can only agree with Rick, no way to tell - unless it came from an estate. Same goes for KM Admin v's the standard Heer summer tunic eagle - both have a silver finish. Law of averages would suggest that a gold would be KM and silver would be Heer.RegardsMike
Scott
I've seen the solid-back KM eagles with the "M"-in-a-diamond symbol attributed to KM insignia. As mentioned, unmarked hollow-backs like this one could be either KM or Heer General Officer.Scott
notned
Thankyou Gents!I see....no way to tell.....Hmmm....Yes.. so it shall and will remain one of lifes mysteries.... Are these worth more than the Heer silver ones? due to less numbers of these being made?Or were there comparable numbers of these produced during the war?Anyway...its a nice peice....in good condition...for its age... The eagle may have been in a KM group but as far as I know the diamond M is only a maker mark (not sure for who), not a KM acceptance mark. Paul, I think the Heer ones are actually slightly harder to find but I don't think there's much of a price difference.RegardsMike Edited May 24, 2006 by Mike K
